New Translator joins Alpha's Beijing team

Dang Jingyu has joined Alpha's in-house translation team at our Beijing office. Dang has over 6 years' experience in localization and has worked on projects for Alpha clients in the past as an associate translator.

Alpha CRC opened its Beijing office in November 2004. This decision came as a result of the rapid and large increase in demand from Alpha's clients for translation into Chinese and other Asian languages.

Having a presence in Beijing enables Alpha to retain our in-house production philosophy and work closely with our in-country associates. This is designed to ensure the quality and standards expected by Alpha's customers are achieved. It also allows us to be close to our China-based clients and to offer them support and contact in their time zone.

Alpha speaks at Idiom World Summit

Alpha was asked to speak at the Idiom World Summit conference at the beginning of May. The event was held in San Diego and brought together members of the World Server community for three days of interactive technical discussion and knowledge sharing.

Alpha's presentation examined Idiom World Server from the perspective of an LSP. Aside from its own installation of Idiom WS, Alpha has processed and delivered more than 29 million target words and has 75 in-house translators, 50 out-sourced translators and 12 Project Managers working with the system.

This presentation shared the effect that working with a corporation using Idiom WS has on the process, working practice, productivity and output of translation teams. The presentation also informed the audience as to how productivity and process issues can be overcome using the extensive experience Alpha has accumulated.

Alpha has extensive experience in the world of GMS. We can offer a unique perspective regarding the impact of this technology on the client side's localization process, LSP processes and the resource needed to deploy, maintain and work with platforms provided by Idiom, SDL and others. So if you need independent advice on helping make the right decisions regarding GMS, please telephone Paul Mangell on +44 (0) 1223 431013 or email .
